The Myrtle Beach Fire Department has been Selected as a Host Agency
by the State of South Carolina for the Establishment of a Team to
Coordinate, Develop, and Maintain Capablilities for
Locating and Extricating Victims Trapped in Collapsed Structures.
This State Assest is known as
South Carolina Task Force 2
The SCTF-2 is one of Five FEMA Type 2 USAR Teams in South Carolina.
All Personnel are Capable of Responding to any Emergency Situation including
High and Low Angle Rope Rescue, Structural Collapse, Trench Rescue,
Missing Persons, and Inclement Weather Response.
USAR Team Members are Required to Attend the Mandatory
80 Hour FEMA Structural Collapse Course at the South Carolina Fire Academy.
Team Members are expected to Attend Monthly Training Drills and
be Readily Available for Immediate Deployment.
Deployment can Last from a Few Hours to as much as 10 days.
Team Members have been Deployed to Areas of Need Including
Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Sandy, and the South Carolina Floods of 2015
